Objective: By the end of class, students will learn new vocabulary, analyze author's intent and make predictions.
DO NOW -

Write all vocabualry words and definitions into notebooks on page 286 of holt text.

1. Read together , the MAGI handout. The number "3" is symbolic in this story. List three symbols that represent your favorite holiday (they can be personal symbols, special to you or commerical symbols).

2. Quickwrite - CRQ in 5-7 sentences to be collected - If you could save just one item from disaster, what would it be? What is your most cherished possession and why? Was it a gift? How and why is it special to you?

4. Read introduction page - 286.....

5. Exit pass - make a prediction about what you think is going to happen in this story.
