Friday, November 18, Lady or the Tiger

Objective: By the end of class, student will analyze and evaluate author's use of ambiguity and irony to convey the theme of how human nature affects behavior.

DO NOW

In three to five sentences, describe the King's system of administering justice. Does the king think its fair? Does the Narrator think it's fair?

1. Summerize story to where we left off and finish reading. Periods 1 & 2 - do comprehensive questions # 1-8 - 15 minutes - then review.

2. Complete Character analysis graphic organizers for the Princess and for the King.

3. Read Frank Stockton's quote on page -

'When you decide which one was behind the door - the lady or the tiger - you find out what kind of person you are yourself."

What did you say came out and what character traits does this mean you have?

4. You may work in pairs to write a short sequel to the LADY OR THE TIGER? What happens next? Be sure to include all major characters and consider their character traits. Why will they do what they do?

Human nature. What makes people tick. Why do people do the things they do? Think of a particular behavior or character trait that you have. It can be good or bad. Why do you do that? Write it down in three to five sentences. (to be collected ).
