Objective; By the end of class, students will make predictions and experience situational irony through short fiction.

DO NOW

In your own words, what is a lottery? Is it a good thing? Can you LIST three different kinds of lotteries? What you might get if you "win"?

Definition of LOTTERY

a : a drawing of lots in which prizes are distributed to the winners among persons buying a chance
b : a drawing of lots used to decide something

: an event or affair whose outcome is or seems to be determined by chance

NOW...
1.You will receive a folded white sheets of paper. DO NOT reveal to anyone what is on your paper!!

On your paper write your name.

Then on the same paper, write how you feel about the lottery and how you feel about winning or losing in 3-5 sentences. May use one of the following sentence starters:

This reminds me of …….
I wonder why…….
In my mind I can picture…..
I’ll bet that…….
