Objective; By the end of class, students will make predictions and experience situational irony through short fiction.

DO NOW

In your own words, what is a lottery? Is it a good thing? Can you LIST three different kinds of lotteries? What you might get if you "win"?

Write down definition of LOTTERY in your notebooks.

Definition of LOTTERY

1. NOW - You will receive a folded white sheets of paper. DO NOT reveal to anyone what is on your paper!!


This is the lottery and there is only one winner.


On your paper, write your name.


Then on the same paper, write how you feel about the lottery and how you feel about winning or losing in 5 -7 sentences. May use one of the following sentence starters:

In my mind I can picture…..

I’ll bet that…….
